Die Altstadt von Quito ist weltberühmt und wurde von der UNESCO zum Weltkulturerbe erklärt. Lerne mit dem EF Freizeitkoordinator die Menschen, Plätze und Sehenswürdigkeiten kennen, die Quito so besonders machen. Dabei sollte ein Ausflug zu den Galápagos Inseln natürlich nicht fehlen!

Sightseeing & Kultur

Spaziere durch die kleinen Gassen, lebhaften Plätze und glanzvollen Kathedralen der kolonialen Altstadt. Bestaune die Fassade des beeindruckenden Klosters San Francisco, Ecuadors größtem Kolonialbau. Probiere traditionelle Gerichte ein einem Café in Guapulo oder laufe über den Äquator am Monument Mitad del Mundo. Den schönsten Ausblick über die Stadt erhältst Du an Bord des Teleferico, der zweithöchsten Seilbahn der Erde.

Shopping

Einen Besuch des Otavalo Marktes, Südamerikas größtem Handwerkermarkt, solltest Du auf keinen Fall versäumen. Es gibt keinen besseren Ort, um mit den Einheimischen in Kontakt zu kommen. Kunstgalerien, Hutmacher, Kunsthandwerker und unzählige Cafés findest Du in der kopfsteingepflasterten Calle de La Ronda.

Sport & Natur

˂p˃Spiele Fußball mit Einheimischen im Parque Metropolitano Guanguiltagua, Südamerikas ˂/p˃˂p˃ größtem Stadtpark. Wandere durch Quitos üppig bewachsene Berglandschaften oder erlebe Adrenalin pur bei einer Wildwasserfahrt durch die Stromschnellen des Quijos. Jubel einem der sechs Fußballteams der Stadt zu oder erlebe den Prunk beim jährlichen Stierkampf-Festival.

Ausflüge

Unterhaltung & Nachtleben

Das meiste Nachtleben in Quito findet in Mariscal, dem modernen Teil der Stadt statt. Beginne den Abend auf dem Plaza El Quinde, wo Du gemeinsam mit Einheimischen unter freiem Himmel essen und trinken kannst. Anschließend geht es zum Tanzen in einen der lokalen Clubs.
