Entdecke Málaga mit EF

Málaga ist authentisch. Hier kannst Du Spanien erleben und die andalusische Lebensfreude kennen lernen. Die Stadt liegt an der Costa del Sol und hat neben viel Sonne und endlosen Stränden auch kulturell viel zu bieten. Besichtige das Geburtshaus von Picasso oder die Alcazaba, eine maurische Festung aus dem 11. Jahrhundert. Dein EF Freizeitkoordinator hält die besten Tipps bereit.

Sightseeing & Kultur

Der Strand befindet sich nur 5 Minuten zu Fuß von der EF Schule entfernt. Hier kannst Du Dich nach dem Unterricht erholen und spanische Tapas probieren. Erkunde die maurische Geschichte in der Festung Alcazaba und der Burganlage Gibralfaro. Pablo Picasso wurde in Málaga geboren. Viele seiner berühmten Werke kannst Du im Picasso Museum sehen. Besichtige die Kathedrale, die auf einer ehemaligen Moschee errichtet wurde oder erlebe ein Stück spanischer Kultur in der Stierkampfarena. Das Römische Theater in der Stadt ist bereits über 2.000 Jahre alt.

Shopping

Die Fußgängerzone der Altstadt wird von kleinen, individuellen Geschäften gesäumt. Zentraler Ort ist hier die Calle Larios. Das moderne Einkaufszentrum Plaza Mayor umfasst überwiegend Geschäfte bekannter Marken.

Sport & Natur

Verbringe den Nachmittag am Strand von La Malagueta, einen kurzen Fußweg vom Stadtzentrum entfernt. Lerne tauchen, segeln, windsurfen oder Wasserski fahren. In den umliegenden Bergen kannst Du wandern und klettern gehen oder Dich im historischen Botanischen Garten La Conception erholen.

Ausflüge

Am Wochenende kannst Du Madrid, Spaniens Hauptstadt, erkunden oder ins hippe Barcelona fahren. Erlebe maurische Architektur in Granada oder nordafrikanische Kultur in Marokko. Gehe surfen in Tarifa, unweit der Straße von Gibraltar.

Unterhaltung & Nachtleben

In einem Straßencafé am eleganten Plaza de la Merced kannst Du typische Tapas probieren oder Dir im Teatro Cervantes eine Flameco-Show ansehen. Während des jährlichen Filmfestivals in Málaga werden neueste spanische Filme gezeigt. Auf den zahlreichen Plätzen und in den Bars in den kleinen Gassen kannst Du mit Einheimischen feiern und ein Teil spanischer Kultur erleben.

Feast of St John

Throughout the different neighbourhoods of Málaga, spectacular goings-on celebrate the Feast of St John (San Juan). The festival reaches a climax at midnight on 23 June, when large cloth figures known as júas are set on fire.

Malaga's fishing district pays homage to the Virgen del Carmen - her image is carried on a dais around the neighbourhood then placed on a flower-covered boat. Traditional song and dance accompanies the fleet as it then sails down the coast.

Every year the Nuestra Señora de la Victoria Pilgrimage in Málaga sees devotees travel on horseback or in richly decorated carts to the saint's sanctuary. On arrival a Mass is said, accompanied by a floral offering and typical Malaga folk music.

The traditional Parade of the Three Wise Men is held in Malaga's town centre. Kings Melchior, Gaspar and Baltasar lead a colourful parade and hundreds of children gather to catch the sweets and toys that they scatter from their floats.

During the run-up to Lent, Málaga fills with colour for its annual Carnival. Costumed parades take to the streets, featuring murga street bands, masked revellers, dancers and choruses. The celebrations reach a peak during the main procession on Carnival Sunday.
